Dear Fresh Air Camp Staff,

It has been quite a privilege to spend this week at Fresh Air Camp. What a joy to see the kids having a blast on a wild hayride, playing basketball and volleyball, “jammin” at karaoke time, swimming, and the week long water-gun fight! I will always remember Kayla’s beautiful rendering of the national anthem, DeVin’s great hoops, Jordan’s precious Hallelujah’s, little Casanova Mason, our own very own Michael Jackson, and Katherine’s own squeals of delight and the grins that never faded all week long!

But what has touched my heart the most this week, has been watching doctors, respiratory therapists and nurses, teenagers and business people – each of you giving all of yourself to bring happiness to a few very special kids. The love and joy you have poured out on these kids will remain with them long after this week has passed. You have given these kids the chance to do so many things they have only dreamed of and priceless memories that will carry them through the tough times yet to come. You have given their families a vital time for renewal to enable and encourage them to carry on. You have also given them the precious gift of seeing you love and care for their kids, your tireless determination to do whatever it took to give their kids the experiences they as parents only wished they could offer them.

And so, at the close of this incredible week, I make this poor attempt to somehow express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have made the Fresh Air Camp possible. Thank you for your hearts, your time, giving of yourself. In one short week you have touched lives forever. Perhaps what you have done for “one of the least of these”, will be one of the greatest things you will ever do.

With love and gratitude,

Pamela Simons. Katherine’s Mom
