After we have received your application all data will be reviewed and reference checks will be completed for new volunteers. Once all information is complete you will receive a letter with more details about your role at camp and the days and hours that you will volunteer, if known at that time.
Our Camp Secretary is Dot Holshuch. For information regarding status of your application please contact Dot at tdshoes1@windstream.net.
1. Who is eligible to be a medical buddy? If you are a nurse, respiratory therapist or doctor with pediatric trach/vent experience you can work as a medical buddy based on your knowledge/ experience. If you are a nurse, resp therapist, or paramedic but do not have trach/vent experience we require that you complete our 1 day medical buddy training program. We also accept medical, nursing and respiratory therapy students who have completed their pediatric rotation to train as medical buddies.
2. How do I find out about the medical buddy training? Dot will send or email a letter with information about the medical buddy training. We traditionally offer 2 options: a weekend day in May and the Saturday -day before before camps starts. In select cases we have provided individual sessions or refreshers.
3. What if I don't know my work hours yet? This is a common issue. Please complete and mail the application telling us what you know about your schedule at the time (eg you may only know that you cannot volunteer the weekend). As you learn what your schedule is please contact Dot or we will call you if we have not heard.
4. Can my daughter/son volunteer? The nonmedical volunteers who stay overnight should be going into junior year of high school. If your child is younger she/he is welcome to come to camp but needs to be with a supervising adult.
